Meralgia Paresthetica (MP) is a condition characterized by numbness, tingling, and burning pain on the outer thigh. It occurs when the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, which supplies sensation to the skin surface of the thigh, becomes compressed or pinched. Common causes include tight clothing, obesity, pregnancy, or repetitive activities that put pressure on the groin. Although the symptoms can be uncomfortable, MP is typically not serious and can often be managed with lifestyle changes, such as wearing looser clothing, weight loss, or physical therapy. In more severe cases, medical interventions like medications or surgery may be necessary.
