A facelift**, or rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to address visible signs of aging in the face and neck by tightening skin, repositioning facial fat and muscles, and improving overall contour.
Goals of a Facelift:
- Reduce sagging in the midface, jawline, and neck
- Smooth deep creases (nasolabial folds, marionette lines)
- Remove or tighten excess skin
- Improve jowls and restore youthful facial contours
Types of Facelifts
- Traditional (Full) Facelift: Involves incisions around the ears and hairline; deeper tissues (SMAS) are lifted and tightened- Midface, jowls, neck
- Mini Facelift: Less invasive with shorter incisions; quicker recovery – Early signs of aging, jawline
- Mid-Facelift: Focuses on cheeks and lower eyelids – Midface only
- Neck Lift: Often done with a facelift; tightens sagging skin and muscle in the neck – Neck, under-chin area
- Deep Plane Facelift: Advanced technique that lifts beneath the muscle layer (SMAS and platysma) – Natural, longer-lasting results
