Overview: CO2 laser resurfacing

CO2 laser resurfacing

CO₂ laser resurfacing is a non-surgical aesthetic procedure that uses fractionated carbon dioxide (CO₂) laser energy to remove layers of damaged skin, stimulate collagen production, and improve skin tone, texture, and tightness.

CO₂ laser resurfacing is ideal for improving:

  • Fine lines and deep wrinkles (especially around eyes and mouth)
  • Sun damage and age spots
  • Acne scars or surgical scars
  • Uneven skin tone or texture
  • Skin laxity (mild sagging)
  • Enlarged pores

Types of CO₂ Laser Treatments:

  1. Ablative CO₂:  Removes outer layers of skin for dramatic results – 7–14 days
  2. Fractional CO₂: Treats skin in columns, leaving surrounding skin intact for faster healing – 5–10 days
  3. Lite or “Mini” CO₂: Less aggressive; often used in series – 2–5 days
