Overview: Knee Pain

PAIN MANAGEMENT CENTER

Knee pain is a common issue that can arise from various causes, affecting people of all ages. It may result from injuries, such as ligament tears or meniscal damage, or from chronic conditions like osteoarthritis. Other potential causes include tendinitis, bursitis, or patellofemoral syndrome. Symptoms can range from a dull ache to sharp, debilitating pain and may be accompanied by swelling, stiffness, or difficulty bearing weight. The pain might be localized or radiate to other parts of the leg. Diagnosis typically involves a detailed medical history, physical examination, and imaging tests such as X-rays or MRI to determine the underlying cause. Treatment depends on the cause and severity of the pain and may include rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE), medications, physical therapy, or in severe cases, surgical interventions. Addressing knee pain promptly and effectively is crucial for restoring function and preventing long-term damage.
