Ashutosh Kaul, MD

Dr. Ashutosh Kaul is a Professor of Clinical Surgery and Program Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship program at New York Medical College, NY. He is the Director of Minimally Invasive and Robotic surgery at Westchester Medical Center, NY.

He served as the former President of the NY State Chapter of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgeons and currently holds the position of Chairman of the National Insurance Committee of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. The primary focus of his practice is Advanced abdominal Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery with a focus on bariatric and gastrointestinal surgery. Beyond surgical excellence, Dr. Kaul places a significant emphasis on improving patients’ health and well-being through a holistic approach. His practice includes customized lifestyle guidance, dietary recommendations, weight loss medication management, and aesthetic interventions. Dr. Kaul is board certified by the American College of Surgeons, is a Diplomate of American Board of Obesity Medicine and is also a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, UK.

His journey in the medical field began with an MBBS degree from Meerut, India, followed by a surgical residency at PGIMER, Chandigarh. Dr. Kaul gained valuable experience as a Registrar at Queens Medical Center, Nottingham, UK. He further honed his skills during a surgical residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ, and completed a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery at New York Medical College, NY.

Dr. Kaul’s contributions to the field have not gone unnoticed. In 2002, he was honored by being included in the list of “America’s Top Minimally Invasive Surgeons” by the Consumers Research Council of America. He is also recognized as an Honored Member of Strathmore’s Who’s Who 2002-2003 Edition. In 1998, he was selected as an “Outstanding Young Man of America” in their thirty-first edition. His exemplary work has earned him the title of “Top Doctor NY Metro Area” by Castle Connolly on multiple occasions, and in 2017, he was distinguished with the “Cutting Edge Award” at the Annual Westchester County Doctors of Distinction Awards.

Dr. Ashutosh Kaul is a dedicated educator who has played a role in shaping the careers of numerous medical professionals. He has had the privilege of training over 200 surgical residents and mentoring 50 fellows in Minimally Invasive Surgery. Many of these individuals have gone on to assume leadership positions in the field and now head prestigious institutions.

Dr. Kaul’s has delivered over 75 international presentations, authored numerous book chapters, and published several research papers. His dedication to education is evident through the surgical courses he has conducted and the conferences worldwide where he has served as a lecturer and keynote speaker.
