Dr. Daniel Rosen is a New York City-based bariatric surgeon and expert in obesity medicine and weight loss management.

In surgery, Dr. Rosen specializes in the Lap-Band, Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Bypass, the Orbera Weight Loss Balloon, and Duodenal Switch. He also regularly performs robotic and laparoscopic minimally invasive abdominal procedures such as hernia repairs, gallbladder removals, and anti-reflux surgery. Dr. Rosen’s medical practice, Weight Zen, goes beyond surgery, on the basis that weight loss is not just a procedure or treatment but a lifestyle choice and an individualized undertaking. Using a holistic approach, Dr. Rosen employs a variety of interventional therapies, including the latest in weight loss medicine, to help patients achieve their weight loss goals.

Dr. Rosen is board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and a member and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. His research has been published widely.

As a general surgeon, Dr. Rosen received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, trained in general surgery at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Center, and completed fellowship training at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He completed a dual fellowship in both bariatric surgery and laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Rosen was born in Brooklyn, and completed his undergraduate degree at Cornell University.
