Dr. Darius Kohan is a graduate of New York University School of Medicine and was board certified as an otolaryngologist in 1990 following completion of his residency training at the same institution. He acquired specialized advanced training in Otology and Neurotology (disease of the ear and surgical/medical management) during his fellowship at New York University Medical Center. Currently, Dr. Kohan is Associate Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology at New York University School of Medicine, Director of Otology/Neurotology at Lenox Hill Hospital/Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital (MEETH). He is on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Otolaryngology, and Governor for the New York Otologic Society. Dr. Kohan is involved in educating medical students and residents at these institutions. In addition, he is involved in several research projects in Otology/Neurotology.
Dr. Kohan is a member of the faculty at several major medical centers: New York University/ Langone Medical Center, Lenox Hill Hospital/Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital, and New York Eye and Ear Infirmary/ Mt. Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Kohan’s patients have access to these excellent diagnostic and surgical facilities. Dr. Kohan also participates in the Cochlear Implant Centers of New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Lenox Hill/MEETH Medical Center/Northwell Health. These affiliations allow Dr. Kohan the opportunity to provide his patients with the highest standard of care.
Most recently Dr. Kohan was the course director for 2019 Implantable Auditory Devices conference hosted by Northwell Health. He ran the course alongside numerous notable colleagues and presented on mechanically driven middle ear implant systems. Dr. Kohan was given this honor because of his decades of experience in the fields of Otology/Neurotology along with the esteemed titles he holds such as:
Dr. Kohan has authored several books, numerous articles, and contributes as editor to several specialty periodicals. He has given several courses and lectured extensively on his field of expertise – Otology/Neurotology. He was elected to the medical board at Beth Israel Medical Center in 1994. Dr. Kohan participated in several national committees of the American Academy of Otolaryngology including SiPac Educational Committee, Hearing Subcommittee, and Implantable Device Committee. He is the Governor of the New York Otologic Society.
