The mission of the Institutes for Specialized Surgery is to provide technically advanced, “state of the art” surgical care in a highly personalized fashion. It does so by delivering that expert care via many different institutions.
It is also the mission of the ISS to perform meaningful research that frequently includes clinical trials that give hope to those who previously had none. The ISS is also committed to training surgeons in advanced surgical techniques, engaging in patient education & outreach, and pursuing philanthropy to support these mission objectives.

The Institutes for Specialized Surgery was conceived to provide technically advanced, “state of the art” surgical care in a highly personalized fashion. It does so by delivering the expert care across many different institutes.
Large “academic” medical centers deliver a wide range of surgical procedures across dozens of specialties, but frequently do so without a personalized approach. In contrast, a surgeon in “private practice” can deliver individualized care, but they are limited in the depth & complexity of surgical procedures that they can offer. The Institutes for Specialized Surgery was conceived to solve these problems by providing highly personalized care delivered by teams of exceptionally skilled and reputationally significant surgeons, doctors, nurses, and other professionals.
The technical sophistication of the surgical care delivered by the ISS is equal to or greater than almost any academic medical center, yet it delivers that care in a highly personalized way that can be the difference between success and failure.
